Don Fechter, President and Broker

Don is the principal/owner of Cambridge Benefit Solutions. He has over 26 years of experience in the insurance industry as an entrepreneur, business owner, consultant, and broker. Don has relationships with many of the CEO’s, Directors of Marketing, and Underwriters of many of the major insurance carriers. As a benefit consultant, Don is able to leverage these relationships to help clients create cost effective benefit solutions lowering annual renewal rate changes for long term stability. Out of more than 2,400 active brokers in the state of Arizona, Black, Gould and Associates have ranked Don and his staff at Cambridge Benefit Solutions as a top broker for the past 8 years. Don’s organization has also been recognized with the highest of honors by most of insurance carriers in Arizona.


James Severson, Senior Account Executive

James has been providing exceptional service and innovative strategies for clients for over 15 years. A graduate of Arizona State, James began his career as an Account Manager for PacifiCare and then United Healthcare.  During James’ tenure with PacifiCare & United Healthcare he was responsible over 100 accounts & over 40,000 members. He has worked with such clients as the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program, State Farm, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Southwest Contractors Trust, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, TRW, Gannett, Marriott, Unilever, and many more. James has a comprehensive knowledge of the full array of benefit plan solutions offered by Cambridge Benefit Solutions. His knowledge and experience provide a full-service solution to meet every client’s needs.


John Cordes, Business Development Manager

John joined the CBS team in 2016. He came to us with great business acumen, truly understanding business clients’ personal needs and objectives. Most recently John worked at Zenefits where he was a top consultant with many high honors and awards. John strives to understand the needs of business owners and develop unique and strategic solutions for employee benefit plans.


Kari Pieratt, Business Operations Manager

Kari has been with the Cambridge Benefit Solutions since early 2015. With a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Organizational Management, she brings a unique blend of skills and support to the CBS team. She spent eight years working in a mid-sized sales organization managing projects, providing network and database administration, as well as supporting the sales and accounting departments. Her primary duties are managing the day-to-day operations of the organization, managing small group clients, building enrollment websites, and supporting the sales team. While new to the insurance industry, Kari’s drive for success and attention to detail is unparalleled and an asset to our team as well as our clients.


Laura Blech, Administrative Assistant/Customer Service Rep

Laura works hard to support the CBS staff and clients by providing excellent service and follow-up. Much of her time is devoted to customer service, and assisting with renewal and open enrollment activities. She is professional as she interacts with clients, insurance partners, and other members of the CBS staff. We appreciate her “can do” attitude when it comes to tackling special projects and organizing events.


Baylee Fechter, Administrative Assistant

Baylee supports the CBS team by tackling many tedious projects. No matter how mundane, she completes the project with a great attitude.  Much of her time is devoted to assisting account managers with renewal and open enrollment activities. Baylee also assists with back-office enrollments.


Deb Fechter, Administrative Assistant

Deb has been with Cambridge Benefit Solutions for 18+ years. Her primary duties are providing back-office enrollment support to employer groups, managing and servicing small group clients. She also aids the team by managing special projects, hosting events, and supporting marketing campaigns.


Bruce Ward, Sr. Account Executive – Black, Gould & Associates

Bruce will be the Team Leader and your main contact at Black, Gould & Associates (BGA). Mr. Ward has over 36 years experience in the employee benefits field. Bruce has a unique insurance background and has worked for the State of Arizona Department of Insurance, and a National New York Benefits Consulting Finn, Blue Cross of Arizona and now with Black, Gould & Associates. In Bruce’s prior job with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona he was a Major Accounts Consultant. His responsibility was for the sale and renewal of large cases in Arizona. Some of his clients included: ABCO Markets, Arizona Public Service, Karsten Manufacturing, Knight Transportation, Salt River Project and Phoenix Newspapers, Inc. This included insured as well as self-insured business with employers ranging from 100-15,000 employees. Bruce has a BS Degree in Insurance from Arizona State University.

Deborah Marshall, Senior Account Manager – Black, Gould & Associates

Deborah has over 32 years of insurance experience. She worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado for 2 years in Colorado. Deb then worked for 23 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona in many areas including customer service, marketing and management of their HMO Products. She continued her career in the insurance industry with Black, Gould & Associates in 2004 where she continues to provide service to clients, brokers and carriers.
